Well, my name is Gerard. Im 1/2 Italian (mother's side), and also 1/2 Scottish (father's side). My grandmother Elena taught me how to draw, sing and perform and started to play in bands when I was only eleven. I'm is obsessed with the idea of death, and I have had many spooky experiences with Ouija boards. When I was a child, he realized that everyone I cares for will die, and everyone will die alone. I have recently recovered from an addiction to drugs and alcohol, being sober as of August 2004, and visits a therapist when the band's not on tour. However, I still enjoys smoking Marlboro red cigarettes. I attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, with the dream of being a comic book artist, (I love comic books, and my favorite superhero was always Wolverine) before forming My Chemical Romance in 2001. I pitched a cartoon for Cartoon Network called "The Breakfast Monkey", but it sadly didn't work out. I considers himself a failed comic book artist yet has still done the artwork for the My Chemical Romance albums and used to design merchandise for the band "Thursday". When My Chemical Romance released Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge in 2004, they were praised for being aggressive, melodic and forward thinking and quickly became one of the biggest bands on the modern rock scene, going platinum in the U.S. and selling over two million copies worldwide. But as theatrical and dramatic as the album was, it was a mere dress rehearsal for My Chemical Romance?ark, bombastic album The Black Parade. While Three Cheers and its predecessor I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love were loose concepts lyrically, The Black Parade is a breathtaking, fully-formed epic in the vein of David Bowie?iggy Stardust or Pink Floyd?he Wall. ?n we started working on the record, all of these theatrical songs that were about life and death started to come out,?ys frontman Gerard Way. ?t?hen we decided we wanted to throw all caution to the wind and aspire to make a huge record.? Guitarist Frank Lero expounds,?said let?ust dive in. We go all the way or we don? go anywhere.?
